Activities
In addition to our canoecenter, there is much to do here at Lits campsite. You can play minigolf, tennis, badminton, soccer, beachvolleyball etc. After one or more of these activities, you can in good conscience relax on the sandy beach at the "lagoon" and take a refreshing swim there. We also have a wood-fired Finnish sauna that has room for up to twelve people. Fishing can be done in the river that flows with clear and fine water down from the Norwegian mountains in the northwest. Trout, grayling, pike, perch are all a common catch here with a little luck and skill. Spinners, fly or worms are optimal bait in our waters. Fishing license costs about 25sek/day. Light fishing equipment bait and worms can be purchased at the reception.
New for this year is that a nice walking trail of about 8km "Högfors trail" that starts here at the campsite has been restored.
The close proximity to Östersund makes Lit's camping a good option for those who also want to visit:
- Jamtli/Museum
- Storsjöbadet (Adventure Bathhouse)
- Frösötornet (Lookout tower) with a great view of Jämtland / Norwegian mountains-in clear weatherabout 130 km!
- Storsjöyran (Musicfestival)
- Moosegarden (Elkfarm.)
- Airplanemuseum
- Teknikland (Sort of summerland-museum-with a theme of military, technics and vehicle history.)
- Multichallenge (Adventure/Activity house.)
- Djungelhuset (Playground house for kids.)
As well as various shopping destinations in the Östersund area.
A daytrip to the mountains is also possible (only one hour by car) Åreskutan's peak at 1420 m above sea level you can reach by cable car or hike up to the top by foot.
